SYNOPSIS
A contented young girl, Adaure living in her village in Mbano Imo State, had just gotten engaged to her lifelong love Mbakwe, and is looking forward to a blissful marital life.  All that is to change however when her old school friend Tricia, shows up in the village from the city with designer clothes, a car and loads of money to spread around. Adaure suddenly realizes that there is a better life than life with Mbakwe in the village. When Tricia promises to help her into the university she firmly believes that she is destined for great things in life. But like they say you can take the pig from the mud, clean it up and give it a bath but the pig would always be a pig. Adaure finds it very hard to make the transition from the village she had always known to become the big city girl she wants to be and finally gives it all up for the welcoming arms of Mbakwe back in the village.

After watching this movie we concluded that this is probably the best Ibo movie that has been made since the legendary LIVING IN BONDAGE. A comedic look at what has gradually become a social malaise in Igbo Land where the get- rich- quick syndrome has become an entrenched value, Adaure is a  beautifully filmed feature by returnee director Theodore Anyanji who had gone into a sort of haitus. Theodore while away from the industry had obviously re-learnt his craft and might have finally discovered his area of strength, comedy. Mind you, this is no slapstick. You might say it's a spin off of Yoruba Box office hit JENIFA but ADAURE stands out in a class of its own. Queen Nwokoye who has over the years worked her way into the A-List group of actresses in Nollywood gives a virtuoso performance that was sometimes breathtaking and sometimes sublime as she intepreted the native Mbano girl. In a tribe where language differs from Village border to village border, Nwokoye's understanding of the difficult Mbano language was surprising for an Anambra girl.

Relatively new face and diva per excellence, Sugar Asoegwu was another stand out performer. Playing Tricia, Adaure's high class friend, she gives out an inspired and classy performance that is absolutely believeable and at the same time empathic as she tries to help her friend through the pitfalls of a new life in the city.
